Twin businesses are uniting gin enthusiasts in mind, body and great British spirit. Burleighs Gin produces amazing artisan gins using botanical gifts from Burleigh Wood in Nanpantan, near Loughborough. The 45 Gin School teaches people how to distil their own unique recipes. Together they’re two of a kind, a tonic for gin enthusiasts everywhere and a source of tasty of gifts for Christmas and beyond.
Burleighs owners are proud of their Leicester heritage and keen to add to it with their unique blends. These team the base juniper berry flavour of all gins with diverse local ingredients such as silver birch, dandelion, burdock, sage, thyme and elderberry. The company collection of locally made, hand-bottled delights frequently utilise exotic further ingredients such as cherry blossom, eucalyptus, rose petals, even Szechuan pepper.
Burleighs brands include its signature London Dry Gin in various strengths, a pink edition with grapefruit and rose in the mix, a Leicester City blend celebrating the Foxes and a Leicester Tigers tipple dedicated to the rugby aces. Distillery tours are available for groups of up to 20 to see how they’re all made. For rugby fans there are even Burleighs box experiences available at the Tigers ground, inclusive of meals – and of course those splendid gins – for your guests. It is hoped a Richard III blend will be available in time for Christmas.
The 45 Gin School offers masterclasses for people to concoct, bottle and label their very own gin creation to take home. Classes take place in The Distiller’s Kitchen, Leicester’s oldest retail building, overlooking the Market Place. They’re immensely popular for hen and stag parties and other celebrations. Brides & ‘grooms-to-be often order miniatures to give as wedding favours. Gift vouchers allow lesson sessions to be booked by recipients any time within a year, as convenient.
