Mere Brook House
You know you’re going somewhere extra special when you book into Mere Brook House because it’s rated top notch 5 Star Gold by Visit England. This splendid Edwardian country house sits in four beautiful acres of grounds on the edge of the pretty village of Thornton Hough in The Wirral and it offers distinctly superior bed & breakfast service, from the king sized, pocket sprung beds to cakes freshly baked every day.
The property has eight sumptuous en suite bedrooms – four in the main house and four in what was originally the coach house – all of them with superb facilities mixing quality modern and antique furnishings adorned with contemporary fabrics and designs. All rooms are spacious and have wi-fi, TV and hospitality trays. Some have mobility aids.
Owners Lorna and Donald Tyson are welcoming and attentive hosts and encourage guests to use the whole property, including three luxurious lounges and those superb grounds with their own sunken dell, brook, paddocks and woodland.
This spectacular house is perfectly placed for exploring the sights and shopping of Liverpool and the beautiful walled city of Chester with its half timbered streetscene especially as it is only 1.5 miles from a railway station which can transport you to either in 20 minutes without the stress of traffic and parking.
Mere Brook House is often used by wedding guests or by people attending courses nearby but many people have yet to discover The Wirral as a destination in its own right. This amazing peninsula has RSPB reserves, beautiful beaches like West Kirby and New Brighton, watersports and attractions like the Floral Pavilion Theatre and Ness Botanical Gardens. People frequently visit Port Sunlight, the model village built by the Victorian Lever Brothers to accommodate their soap factory workers, and the Lady Lever Art Gallery.
