Peartree Cottage

For anyone seeking a rural hideaway in Devon, Peartree Cottage will seem like a little piece of heaven. The comfy, two bedroomed cottage sits in two acres of beautiful grounds just outside the Dartmoor National Park, providing self catering accommodation with oak beam charm within an hour’s drive of the coast.

The cottage adjoins the owner’s country house near the little village of Northlew, near Okehampton, one of the ‘gateways’ to Dartmoor and wonderful country for walking, riding, cycling, undoubtedly coming across some of the free roaming ponies and livestock resident in the wilds. People who like to fish or play golf will have no problem finding facilities local to this former dairy farm.

Rated 4 Star Gold by Visit England, Peartree Cottage has two en suite bedrooms, a cosy living area and a modern kitchen diner, plus private garden with a patio and summerhouse adjoining a wildflower meadow, highly attractive to birds and butterflies, which guests are free to use.

The cottage was created from a former cattle barn and tastefully modernised by current owner Jackie Ellis.

Peartree Cottage

“It’s a very unspoiled part of Devon and it’s very peaceful here,” says Jackie. “There are wonderful walks and cycle trails very close by but also we’re very central for exploring the coastline of both Devon and Cornwall and its stunning scenery.”
