Nature and history constantly inspire the creative process of Hannah Silversmith, an artisan business dedicated to handcrafting exquisite pieces of one-off, bespoke or limited edition jewellery quite different to what anyone else is making.
Hannah Silversmith is the trading name of jewellery & silversmithing graduate Hannah Smith, who researches themes as varied as Saxon hordes, antique clocks, geodes, insects and robots as a basis for jewellery ranges.
She likes to create items that have a narrative story behind them. Often these are nature inspired, such as her insect collection featuring ants, woodlice, dragonflies and ‘werewigs’, with their beautiful shapes hand cut into silver and incorporating fantastical stories from her imagination.
“Although I make a range of jewellery, I make each piece one at a time, so each one is different,” she says.
Her other great love is to take commissions from people and create their vision in silver, gold, gemstones and skilful craftsmanship, utilising information about the person or occasion that causes it to be made.
Hannah’s pieces are all hallmarked in line with the regulations of the Assay Office so customers can always be certain of the authenticity of the materials. They are on sale through her online shop at www.hannahsilversmith.co.uk, where people can also find details of evening classes which she teaches in Loughborough.
