The Olive Branch is a vibrant toy shop which fosters imaginative, creative and educational play through its broad range of top quality products for pre-school and primary school children. Now it is expanding its work with the addition of the Rainbow Room, offering new facilities for soft play, children’s parties and other fun activities.
The thriving shop, in the heart of Castle Donington, opened in 2016 and has since built a great reputation through its working motto: ‘Bringing back the joy of play and learning’. Its shelves are packed with appealing items which include many beautiful gifts for new-borns, toys to stimulate older babies and toddlers, inviting toys, books and jigsaws for older children and a range of craft and science kits to help youngsters learn about the world and build their own creative skills.
The range includes traditional toys, enticingly packaged ‘Gift in a Tin’ sets, Fair Trade wooden toys, construction kits, games for all ages, craft kits and handmade personalised cards and gifts. Many choices are available for under £10 and, in this very welcoming environment, children can play while shopping takes place.
Run by Julie Logan, her husband, Alex and daughter Holly, The Olive Branch has also delivered a popular range of craft sessions and group meetings in an upstairs room on the premises, for both children and adults. Now it has also acquired premises nearby where there is more room, meaning they can also host play parties bespoke to parents’ wishes.
Julie says: “We already have an experienced art teacher who designs and delivers craft parties for us and we plan to partner with different providers for various other types of party, such as soft play for the younger children, themed parties, science parties and whatever people want, putting it all together as a bespoke package.”
